ADEME.
ADEME, the French national agency for energy and environmental transition, needed compelling motion content to communicate its mission to a broad audience: from local governments to the general public.
The Agency helps implement public policies in the fields of the environment, energy and sustainable development. It makes its expertise available to businesses, local authorities, public bodies and citizens, and helps finance projects from research to implementation.
01 — The challenge
Complex topics, broad audiences.
ADEME speaks to engineers, elected officials and citizens alike. Its subjects are technical, its message is urgent, and its content has to live in very different settings.
Challenge 01
Engaging & accessible
Make complex environmental and energy topics engaging and accessible to non-specialists.
Challenge 02
Multi-format
Create content suitable for events, presentations and the web.
Challenge 03
Visual consistency
Establish a consistent visual language across multiple scenarios and subjects.
Challenge 04
Urgent, not preachy
Communicate urgency without lecturing the audience.
02 — The goal
Explain the transition, clearly.
The films had to cover the full breadth of ADEME’s fields of action, from waste to renewable energy, with the same clarity for technical and general audiences.
Produce motion design graphics that explain ADEME’s role and environmental solutions in a way that resonates with both technical and general audiences.
ADEME’s fields of action
- Waste management
- Soil conservation
- Energy efficiency & renewables
- Raw material savings
- Air quality
- Noise abatement
- Circular economy
- Fighting food waste
03 — The films
One visual grammar, many subjects.
Flat, colourful illustration and clear, sequential animation: each scene isolates one idea so the audience can follow without prior knowledge of the subject.

Approach
Motion that explains.
Animation here serves understanding first: timing, hierarchy and directional cues guide the eye from one idea to the next.
i.
Clarity
One idea per scene, so complex environmental topics become easy to follow.
ii.
Consistency
A single illustration style and colour palette shared across every subject and film.
iii.
Versatility
Films designed to work on stage at events, in presentations and on the web.
