Mission
Brand identity, UX/UI, motion design

Baku is an open-source, browser-based stop-motion animation platform built for children and teachers, developed in collaboration with educators and artists across Europe.

No installation, no account required – just a browser and an idea.

Key contributions

  1. A warm, character-driven logo built around an animated mascot.
  2. A bold typographic system.
  3. A motion language designed to feel handcrafted and alive.
  4. A flat, friendly user interface stripped of complexity.

01 — The challenge

Expressive for kids, effortless for teachers.

Design a creative tool expressive enough to inspire young users, yet simple enough for teachers to deploy without training or technical setup.

Principle 01

Zero setup

No installation, no account required. Teachers must be able to start a session in a classroom without any technical preparation.

Principle 02

Made together

Unlike existing stop-motion tools, Baku was designed for real-time, multilingual filmmaking by groups of children in different locations – forging connections through shared creative work across borders and languages.

02 — The identity

Warm, bold, handcrafted.

The visual identity reflects the energy of children making films together: a character-driven logo, a bold typographic system and a motion language that feels handcrafted and alive.

Flat UI

Flat, friendly and stripped of complexity, so the tool never gets in the way of the story.

03 — Interface & illustration

The tool never gets in the way.

Cut-paper textures and playful characters invite children in; the interface itself stays flat and simple so the story comes first.
